Junior Leadership Macomb was established in 2013. The program is designed for students entering their junior year of high school. It is open to all Macomb County High schools, public, private, charter and home schooled individuals. Similar to the Leadership Macomb Core program, the Junior program focuses on educating participants on the assets and issues and systems that make up Macomb County.
Sessions include presentations by topic experts, interactive exercises, group dialogue, panel discussions and unique field trips. This unique program also gives students the opportunity to job shadow in career field(s) of interest to them, and participate in group community service projects that create a lasting impact to them personally and to the community.
Students must apply to the program by May 25, 2019 and will be notified of their acceptance by June 4, 2019. Selection is based on academic achievement, personal goals, eagerness toward community service, references, and their commitment to meet the attendance requirement. We strive to create a diverse cohort of participants representing multiple school districts and backgrounds throughout Macomb County.
