Junior Program

Building the Next Generation of Community Minded Leaders

Junior Leadership Macomb was established in 2013.  The program is designed for students entering their junior year of high school.  It is open to all Macomb County High schools, public, private, charter and home schooled individuals.  Similar to the Leadership Macomb Core program, the Junior program focuses on educating participants on the assets and issues and systems that make up Macomb County.  

 

Sessions include presentations by topic experts, interactive exercises, group dialogue, panel discussions and unique field trips.  This unique program also gives students the opportunity to job shadow in career field(s) of interest to them, and participate in group community service projects that create a lasting impact to them personally and to the community.

Objectives of the Junior Leadership Macomb Program are to:

  • Create opportunities for students to realize their leadership potential
  • Expose students to systems (government, justice, environment, health care, arts and culture, business, education) that make up Macomb County
  • Provide access to a network of professionals and fellow students from across the County
  • Foster a commitment to Community involvement

Students must apply to the program by May 13, 2018 and will be notified of their acceptance by June 1, 2018.  Selection is based on academic achievement, personal goals, eagerness toward community service, references, and their commitment to meet the attendance requirement. We strive to create a diverse cohort of participates representing multiple school districts and backgrounds throughout Macomb County.
